The Role
We're seeking an Engineering Tech Lead who will set technical direction, lead a team of senior engineers, and bring exceptional business instinct to every decision. This isn't a role where you simply execute—you'll define what gets built, why it matters, and how your team will deliver it. You'll be equally comfortable discussing strategy with business stakeholders as you are reviewing production incidents or making critical architecture decisions. You'll bridge the gap between engineering and business fluently, shaping the systems that power multiple AI-native professional services companies simultaneously.
As a Tech Lead at Infinity Constellation, you'll own technical outcomes, not just tasks. You'll work across a constellation of interconnected AI companies, which means the scope is broad and requires both deep technical expertise and genuine business intuition.
Your First 90 Days
In your first three months, you will:
- Establish technical standards and observability practices across our shared backend and AI workflow systems
- Lead the design and delivery of two to three significant technical initiatives from concept to production
- Mentor and calibrate the engineering team through thoughtful design reviews and code reviews
- Translate business strategy into a clear technical roadmap that the team can execute against
- Set team norms around agentic development tooling and modern engineering practices
What You'll Do
- Set technical direction and architecture for systems serving multiple AI-native companies
- Lead and mentor a team of senior engineers, creating clarity and momentum without process overhead
- Translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical strategy and know when to push back on misaligned direction
- Proactively identify what the business needs technically and get ahead of it for yourself and your team
- Build and scale agentic and LLM-powered systems including multi-step agents, tool use, reliability patterns, and human-in-the-loop workflows
- Design and implement integrations with third-party APIs and event-driven architectures across connected systems
- Establish observability, reliability, and production engineering standards that scale
- Run crisp design reviews, provide useful feedback, and articulate technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
- Ship systems that solve real business problems, balancing pragmatism with technical excellence
What You Bring
Required:
- 7+ years of experience building production software at scale
- Strong expertise in Python and TypeScript backend architecture
- Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and distributed systems
- Business instinct at leadership scale: You can translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical strategy, know what to build (not just how), and push back when the direction is wrong
- Anticipatory technical ownership: You proactively identify what the business needs technically and stay ahead of it for yourself and your team
- Technical leadership without bureaucracy: You lead and mentor engineers, own technical outcomes, and create clarity and momentum without unnecessary process overhead
- Excellent communication skills: You articulate technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders, run effective design reviews, give constructive feedback, and bridge engineering and business fluently
- Product engineering mindset: You ship systems that solve real business problems, not just elegant architecture for its own sake
- Experience building agentic or LLM-powered systems at team scale, including multi-step agents, tool use, reliability patterns, human-in-the-loop design, and evaluation frameworks
- Strong experience with third-party API integrations and event-driven architectures across connected systems
- Strong opinions on observability, reliability, and what good production engineering looks like
- Real daily use of agentic development tools and the ability to set sensible team norms around them
Strong Bonuses:
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS or shared platform architecture serving multiple products
- Domain experience in finance/fintech, legal/compliance, or executive operations
- Experience building AI-augmented human workflow systems
- Background with real-time voice, video, or messaging systems
- Experience with AI evaluation frameworks or quality programs for LLM-powered features at scale
