UX/UI Designer

CubX | Full-Time, On-Site | New Jersey

Compensation: $90,000–$100,000+ (flexible for the right candidate)

About CubX

CubX is a New Jersey-based technology company on a mission to reinvent how businesses experience IT.

From our headquarters in Lakewood, NJ, we deliver managed IT services, cybersecurity, and Microsoft 365

support to organizations across the country, all built on a serverless, secure-by-default platform.

We are more than an IT services company. CubX is building its own software platform, with web and mobile

apps that automate routine IT workflows, reduce daily friction, and give teams a faster, clearer way to get

support. As a SOC 2 Type 2 and HIPAA-compliant organization, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of

security and professionalism, and we bring that same standard to the products we design and ship.

About the Role

CubX is looking for a UX/UI Designer who can take a vague, poorly defined problem and turn it into a fully

realized product design. You will own the design process end to end, from research and problem definition

through polished, developer-ready UI. When your work reaches our developers, it should be 95% of the way

there; their job is to take it to 100%, not to fill in the gaps.

We move fast. Features can go from idea to shipped in a week, and you’ll be expected to keep pace in a

high-velocity, product-driven environment.

What You’ll Do

• Own the full UX/UI design process: research, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity, developer-ready

designs.

• Take ambiguous or loosely articulated business problems and shape them into clear, well-scoped

design solutions, often understanding the problem better than the person who raised it.

• Act as a bridge between business, end users, and developers, thinking from all three perspectives at

once (part designer, part business analyst).

• Deliver designs that are 95% complete before developer handoff: thought through, validated, and

buildable.

• Ship quickly in a fast-paced environment where new features can be scoped and designed on short

timelines.

• Use AI tools to accelerate your work, while directing, verifying, and editing everything they produce

with strong design judgment.

What We’re Looking For

• Exceptional critical thinking. This is our #1 requirement: you can interrogate a vague request, ask the

right questions, and hone in on the real problem.

• Real SaaS / software product design experience. You’ve designed production software used by real

customers, not just concept, charity, or side projects.

• Strength in both research and design. Candidates who only do one or the other are not the right fit for

this role.

• Strong Figma proficiency.

• Fluency with AI design tools, paired with the taste and judgment to know when their output is wrong.

• The ability to communicate design decisions clearly to stakeholders and guide them from an unclear

request to a concrete solution.

We don’t filter on years of experience. The quality of your experience and how you think matter far more

than tenure.

Location & Logistics

• Full-time, on-site at our New Jersey office.

• Candidates should be within roughly a one-hour commute of the office.

How to Apply

Submit your resume along with a portfolio (required at the application stage). Shortlisted candidates will

complete a short screening interview followed by interviews with the product and engineering leadership

team.

Our hiring process

We’ve designed our process to get you from application to offer in 2–3 weeks — no lengthy waiting periods, no unnecessary stages.

  • Step 1 — AI Interview (within 48 hours of applying). Complete a short AI-powered interview at a time that suits you. No scheduling required — you choose when you do it, and it can be completed within 48 hours of applying.
  • Step 2 — Recruiter Call. A member of the Zero Hiring team will reach out to walk you through the role and the business in more detail, answer your questions, and make sure this is the right fit on both sides.
  • Step 3 — Client Interviews. You’ll meet the team. Typically 2–3 interviews with the hiring organisation, designed to give both parties a thorough and genuine sense of fit.
  • Step 4 — Offer. If it’s a match, we move fast. Expect a clear, timely offer without the drawn-out back-and-forth.
