The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our Digital Consumer Experience team at our North American headquarters in Portland. In this role, you will play a critical part in building and scaling consumer-facing e-commerce features that power our web and mobile applications. You'll work on a high-traffic platform that serves millions of consumers globally, directly impacting how people discover, explore, and purchase adidas products online.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable consumer-facing e-commerce features across web and mobile applications
• Build and maintain high-performance, reliable software solutions that serve millions of users globally
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following industry best practices and team standards
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality across the team
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability to deliver exceptional user experiences
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy for the digital platform
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, bringing innovative ideas to the team
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Minimum 3 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development
• Experience with Node.js and building backend services and APIs
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures using AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Solid understanding of e-commerce platforms and consumer-facing applications
• Experience with responsive web design and mobile application development
• Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and CI/CD practices
• Experience with testing frameworks and writing automated tests
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
• Passion for creating exceptional user experiences and delivering high-quality software

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of GraphQL and RESTful API design principles
• Familiarity with state management libraries (Redux, MobX, or similar)
• Experience with performance monitoring and optimization tools
• Understanding of accessibility standards and best practices
• Experience working with design systems and component libraries
• Background in retail, e-commerce, or consumer technology
