About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Innovation and Technology Center (ITC). In this role, you will be instrumental in building and scaling both consumer-facing and internal platforms that power Nike's digital ecosystem. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional product teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance the athlete experience and drive operational excellence. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on Nike's technology landscape while working with cutting-edge technologies and a talented global engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable consumer-facing platforms that deliver exceptional user experiences to millions of athletes worldwide
- Build and optimize internal platforms and tools that enable Nike teams to work more efficiently and effectively
- Partner with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
- Drive engineering best practices across a global codebase, including code reviews, testing standards, and documentation
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth and development of the engineering team
- Lead technical design discussions and architectural decisions for complex systems
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and technical debt
- Collaborate with distributed teams across multiple time zones to deliver high-quality software solutions
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative approaches where appropriate
- Participate in on-call rotations and ensure system reliability and uptime
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building scalable web applications or distributed systems
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, Go, or similar
- Demonstrated experience with modern web frameworks and technologies (e.g., React, Node.js, Spring Boot, or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of software architecture patterns, design principles, and best practices
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases, and understanding of data modeling principles
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex technical issues
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality software on schedule
- Experience mentoring other engineers and driving technical excellence within a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, or consumer-facing digital platforms
- Knowledge of mobile application development (iOS/Android)
- Experience with event-driven architectures and message queuing systems
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Contributions to open-source projects or technical communities
- Experience working in global, distributed engineering organizations
