About the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Designer, Footwear Color & Materials to join our Local Creation team. In this pivotal role, you will own the color and materials direction for our footwear collections, translating seasonal concepts into compelling products that resonate with consumers. You will serve as the creative authority on color palettes, material selection, and finish applications, working collaboratively across functions to bring innovative footwear designs to market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and define color and materials strategy for footwear within the Local Creation team, ensuring alignment with brand vision and seasonal themes
  • Develop comprehensive color palettes and material stories that drive product differentiation and market relevance
  • Partner closely with product line management to translate consumer insights and market trends into actionable design direction
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the product creation process
  • Source, evaluate, and select materials that balance aesthetic vision with performance requirements and sustainability goals
  • Create detailed color and materials specifications, presentations, and design documentation
  • Work cross-functionally with design, merchandising, and development teams to bring seasonal concepts from ideation through production
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in color, materials, and finishes, bringing fresh perspectives and innovation to the team
  • Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders and leadership with clarity and confidence
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers on color and materials best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Fashion Design, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience in footwear design with a strong focus on color and materials
  • Demonstrated expertise in color theory, material properties, and manufacturing processes specific to footwear
  • Strong portfolio showcasing color and materials work across multiple footwear categories
  • Proven ability to lead design direction and influence cross-functional teams
  • Deep understanding of consumer trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape
  • Experience working with product line management and development teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate design vision clearly
  • Proficiency in design software including Adobe Creative Suite and relevant 3D tools
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Passion for innovation, sustainability, and pushing creative boundaries
  • Knowledge of sustainable materials and practices in footwear design is a plus
