About the Role

We're seeking a talented Cushioning Engineer II to join our Underfoot Systems Innovation team. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced cushioning systems and underfoot technologies for athletic footwear across multiple sport categories
  • Partner with materials science teams to evaluate, test, and integrate novel materials into cushioning platforms
  • Collaborate with biomechanics researchers to understand athlete movement patterns and translate insights into engineering solutions
  • Work closely with product engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and scalability of cushioning innovations
  • Conduct mechanical testing and analysis of cushioning prototypes to validate performance characteristics
  • Create detailed technical specifications, design documentation, and performance reports for cushioning systems
  • Build and iterate on physical prototypes using various fabrication methods and tools
  • Present design concepts and technical findings to stakeholders and leadership teams
  • Stay current with industry trends, competitive products, and emerging technologies in cushioning and materials science
  • Support the transition of innovations from concept through development to production

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical field
  • 3-5 years of experience in product development, mechanical engineering, or materials engineering
  • Strong understanding of material properties, mechanical testing methods, and engineering principles
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) for 3D modeling and design
  • Knowledge of cushioning systems, foam technologies, or polymer materials preferred
  • Familiarity with biomechanics principles and human movement analysis is a plus
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a creative and innovative mindset
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences
  • Experience with prototyping methods and hands-on fabrication techniques
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
